AI Tutor: practice speaking on a live video call (beta)
What it is: a real-time video conversation with an AI tutor who speaks the language you are learning, on the new Tutor page. It listens, answers out loud, corrects you gently, and brings up words you have looked up or saved as flashcards. Everything either of you says appears in a live transcript beside the video.
In beta, English and Korean to start: the tutor is new, so we are opening it with two languages while we tune how it listens and replies. More languages follow once it holds up in everyday use. If a call goes wrong, please tell us through Help; that feedback is what decides what we fix first.
What it costs: the AI tutor is part of the Max plan, which includes 100 tutor minutes a month. Each started minute also costs 10 credits from your daily balance. A single call runs up to 15 minutes, and you can leave whenever you like. See how credits work for the details.

A new voice engine and one credit balance replacing the separate daily limits
Read aloud, rebuilt: Text-to-Speech now runs on a new engine that sounds natural instead of robotic, with a native speaker's accent for each language. It also answers almost instantly rather than after a long wait, and it covers 46 languages, up from 16, including every European language we support plus Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Filipino, Hebrew, Georgian and more.
Credits: translations, Smart Lookups and read aloud used to each have their own daily limit, so running out of one left the others untouched and you had three numbers to keep track of. They now share a single daily credit balance you can spend however you like. A translation costs 1 credit, a Smart Lookup costs 2, and reading text aloud costs 3.
What you get: 100 credits a day on the free plan, 400 on Pro and 1,000 on Max, or 30 a day without an account. Credits reset daily, and a request that fails or times out is refunded automatically.
