By using the Sori Chrome extension or website (sori-translator.com), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use Sori.
By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old (or 16 if you are located in the EU/UK).
Sori is a Chrome extension that lets you highlight text on any webpage to get instant translations or dictionary definitions. It supports 123 languages and three modes: translation, monolingual dictionary, and bilingual dictionary.
Translations are powered by OpenAI and processed in real-time. We do not store the text you translate.
You can use Sori without an account (with limited daily usage). Creating an account gives you higher quotas and access to paid tiers.
You may create an account using email/password or by signing in with Google. When you sign in with Google, you authorize us to access your email address and basic profile information from your Google account.
You are responsible for:
You can delete your account at any time via Account Settings. Account deletion requires email verification for security. Deletion is permanent and removes your authentication data from our systems.
Each subscription tier includes daily limits for word translations and dictionary lookups (Smart Lookups). These limits are enforced automatically and reset daily. We reserve the right to adjust quotas with reasonable notice.
You may not attempt to circumvent quotas through technical means, multiple accounts, or any other method.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly on a recurring basis through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method automatically each billing period.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, you retain access until then.
All payments are final. We do not offer refunds for partial months, unused quota, or subscription periods already paid for.
You may not use Sori to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.
Sori, its branding, code, and content are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute any part of the extension or website without permission.
Sori is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that translations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose. Translation quality depends on OpenAI's models and may vary.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sori shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including reliance on any translation provided.
In all cases, our total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
Sori relies on third-party services, including OpenAI for translations, Supabase for authentication and data storage, Stripe for payments, and Resend for transactional emails. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of these third parties, and your use of Sori is also subject to their respective terms.
If you have a dispute with us, you agree to first contact us via our help page and attempt in good faith to resolve the matter informally. Most concerns can be resolved this way. You agree not to commence any formal legal proceeding until at least 30 days after first notifying us.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before the changes take effect, where reasonably possible. Continued use of Sori after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
