1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms apply to all Sori products: the Sori app for iPhone and iPad, the Sori Chrome extension, and the website sori-translator.com (together, the "Services"). By using any of them, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Sori.

You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EU and UK) to create an account.

2. The Services

The Sori app helps you learn Korean and prepare for the TOPIK exam with practice questions, mock tests, study books, video clips and flashcards. The Sori Chrome extension gives you translations, dictionary definitions and audio for text you highlight on any webpage. One account works across both.

Sori's practice questions and mock tests are original material written to match the format of the exam. Sori is not affiliated with or endorsed by NIIED or the official TOPIK, and estimated levels or scores are a study aid, not an official result.

Some features use artificial intelligence, including translations, definitions and writing feedback. AI output can be wrong, so do not rely on it for anything important without checking it.

Videos in the app are played from a third-party video platform, and your viewing is also subject to that platform's terms. We may add, change or remove features and content at any time.

3. Your Account

You can sign up with email and password, Google or Apple. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for all activity on your account. Your username must not impersonate anyone or be offensive. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; deletion is permanent.

4. Your Content

You own the content you create, such as flashcards, notes and writing answers. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the Services to you. You are responsible for what you save and must not use Sori to store unlawful content.

5. Plans and Usage Limits

Some features require a paid plan. Plans include usage limits, such as daily credits for the Chrome extension and a daily number of AI writing corrections in the app. Limits reset automatically and may be adjusted with reasonable notice. You may not get around them with multiple accounts or any other method.

6. Payments and Subscriptions

Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly, every 3 months or yearly, until you cancel. Prices on the website are in US dollars; in the app, the store charges a price set for your country in your local currency. Your plan works on every Sori product, but it is billed by the store you bought it from:

In the app: billed by Apple through your Apple ID. A free trial, if offered, turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Manage or cancel in your iPhone's Settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
On the website: billed by our payment provider. Upgrades apply immediately for the price difference, while downgrades and billing changes apply at the end of your billing period. Cancel any time from your account page; you keep access until the period ends.

Except where the law or the store's policy says otherwise, payments are final and we do not offer refunds for partial periods or unused limits.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not:

Break any law, or use Sori to harm or harass others
Copy, scrape, resell or redistribute Sori's content, questions or audio
Reverse-engineer, overload or abuse the Services or their limits
Share your account to pool a plan, or use the Services for automated or bulk use

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Sori, its name, design, code and content (including its practice questions, study books and audio) belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the Services for your own learning. Dictionary content from the National Institute of Korean Language is used under its open license, as noted where it appears.

9. Disclaimers and Liability

The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that they will be error-free or always available, or that using them will lead to any exam result.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or USD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under the laws of your country.

10. Apple App Store

If you use the app from the App Store, these Terms are between you and Sori, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app, its maintenance or support, or any claims about it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

11. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada. If you have a dispute, please contact us first so we can try to solve it informally; you agree to wait 30 days after contacting us before starting legal proceedings. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.

We may update these Terms and will change the date at the top when we do. For important changes, we will give notice in advance where possible. Questions? Reach out through our help page.
